Board Certified Vet Dermatologist, Dr. Norma White-Weithers attended Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She also completed a Master’s Degree in animal nutrition at the same institution. After graduating from Tuskegee University with her DVM degree, she was accepted into the internship program at Tuskegee and completed a one year rotating internship in medicine and surgery.
Following her internship at Tuskegee University, Dr. Norma White-Weithers completed a three year dermatology residency at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. During her residency program, she was the recipient of a comparative dermatology fellowship at the University of Miami Medical School. Upon her completion, she returned to Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine where she held a teaching position as an assistant professor for seven years. After gaining tenureship, she accepted a position at the Veterinary Allergy & Dermatology Referral Service in Houston, Texas where she practiced for three years.
Dr. White-Weithers has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Long Island area and believes in the need to make pets as equally healthy as human beings. She believes in the need for compassion toward all animals and that they should be treated as such. Even though she treats all aspects of allergic and dermatological disease, her special interests are in autoimmune skin diseases and ear diseases of the dog and cat.
Dr. White-Weithers has published numerous papers, book chapters, and has lectured worldwide. She is presently the Secretary of the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association and has held this position for three terms.
