Josephine McKnight, DVM, DACVIM
Oncology
Dr. McKnight has had a long and varied career in veterinary medicine. Dr. McKnight graduated from Ontario Veterinary College. Following school, she worked in New York City at The Animal Medical Center, completing a rotating internship. This was followed by three years in general practice before pursuing her passion, medical oncology which resulted in a residency, back at The Animal Medical Center.
Dr. McKnight obtained board certification in 2000. Following her residency, Dr. McKnight remained at AMC as a staff oncologist for several years, treating oncology patients, as well as helping to train 200+ interns, residents, and veterinary students. Dr. McKnight was a part of the clinical trials team that resulted in the development of the canine melanoma vaccine. She has also worked at Cornell University Veterinary School as a visiting lecturer in oncology.
In 2000, Dr. McKnight was honored as AMC veterinarian of the year. Dr. McKnight was previously part of the ACNY team and is pleased to rejoin us. Dr. McKnight has developed a reputation as a expert in canine soft tissue sarcomas, feline colonic adenocarcinoma, canine malignant melanoma, and canine mast cell tumors having published many articles these and other veterinary oncology topics.
